Rustenburg Castle arrives in Cape Town

I was on the Rustenburg when this photo was taken, in fact when we were docked in Cape Town I had to steer it to a new birth as ALL the deck crew who were licences to steer her had gone ashore & as I had JUST got my helmsman's licence I had to rebirth her, which at the time (& still does I belivev) makes me the youngest person to ever dock a ship in Cape Town! SO long aging, but seems like just weeks ago.
    A side note if interested, I was also the youngest combat solider in Ulster/ Northern Ireland in 1971 as they made a law that noons under 18 years old could go there ( too many 17 year olds were getting killed) we left Liverpool on Nov 26th 71 & of course arrived Nov 27th 71 My 18th birthday! Made me the youngest soilder there! That sucked lol
